Leighton House & Design Museum

Leighton House was the home of a leading Victorian artist, Frederic, Lord Leighton, and the centre of the Holland Park Artists’ Circle and has recently reopened to wide acclaim.

Horniman Museum and the Berthe Morisot exhibition at the Dulwich Picture Gallery

The Horniman Museum, named Museum of the Year in 2022, includes amongst other things galleries of musical instruments and worldwide culture.
The Dulwich Picture Gallery, designed by Sir John Soane, is renowned for its collection of Baroque masterpieces and is considered to be the oldest and first public art gallery in London.
Berthe Morisot defied social norms to become one of the Impressionist movement’s most influential figures, and the exhibition will show 30 of her works.

Penhurst Place and Tudely All Saints Church

Penshurst Place was built in 1341 and described as “the grandest and most perfectly preserved example of a fortified manor house in all England”

Tudeley All Saints is the only church in the world to have all 12 of its stained glass windows designed by the Russian artist, Marc Chagall.

Hever Castle Thursday 7th September 2023

This double moated 13th century castle was once the childhood home of Anne Boleyn, full of tapestries, fine furniture, antiques and an outstanding collection of Tudor portraits. The Book of Hours Room contains two prayer books which belonged to Anne Boleyn and have her inscription and signature.

Milton Keynes Theatre, Noises Off Thursday 23rd November 2023

Michael Frayn’s celebrated play serves up a riotous double bill, a play within a play. Hurtling along at breakneck speed, Noises Off follows the on and offstage antics of a touring theatre company as they stumble their way through the fictional farce, ‘Nothing On’.

There are still tickets available. Please phone Kate Winterbottom or bring your cheque book to the October 11th meeting if you wish to buy tickets. Tickets include seats in the Dress Circle, coach travel, driver’s tip and parking at Tring Rugby Club. Members are welcome to bring a friend.
